On the trail of the hare
65 kilometers of walking and hiking trails offer you off-piste winter adventure. The majority of these are purpose-made for walkers, while others follow small, quiet roads, or run along cross-country skiing trails.
Winter hiking trails without the use of mountain transport
Mulegns - Val Faller - Tga (2 hours)
Opposite the Posthotel Löwen in Mulegns (1,482 m above sea level) the path ascends gently towards Tga. The path leads partly through woodland and over the meadows of Plaz and may not always be prepared.
Rona – gravel quarry circular (3/4 hour)
Opposite the Post Bus stop the path leads across level ground to the gravel quarry, looping back in parallel with the cross-country trail.
Marmorera - Bivio (1 1/2 hours)
In Marmorera follow the path past the church and up to Pardela on a level woodland path, which also serves as a cross-country ski route. The path leads to Stalveder, and after a gentle ascent you reach Bivio.
Marmorera Scalotta circular (1 hour)
From the Post Bus stop at the Scalotta Holiday Hotel the route heads in the direction of the Marmorera dam. The footpath branches right, down to the woods towards the forestry yard, and then runs parallel to the main road back to the starting point.
Savognin - Riom - Parsonz (1 1/2 hours) - Salouf (2 1/4 hours)
From the Lai Barnagn car park a beautifully sunlit walk leads along the banks of the River Julia and obliquely across the hillside to the castle Riom. At the village fountain the walk can be extended if desired, on to Parsonz – Talvangas – Tigignas – Radons, or by taking a right directly below Parsonz in the direction of Salouf. You can return by Post Bus, or via Artgaz to Cunter.
Savognin - Tinizong (1 Std.)
From the Ski School Centre walk alongside the river to Tinizong (power plant), left over the bridge, on to the municipal saw mill and up to the village. Riders or horse drawn carriages can sometimes be encountered along the footpaths to Tinizong, Cunter and Riom.
Winter walks using mountain railway
Veia Panorama Heights hiking trail (1 1/2 - 2 hours)
Take the chair lift to Somtgant (2,112 m above sea level). The trail goes from Somtgant via Naladas and Tigia to Radons (1,890 m), or to Tigignas (1,600 m).
Tigignas - Radons (2 hours)
Take the chair lift to Tigignas. The trail leads from Tigignas, via Val Nandro to Radons, returning with the Snowliner from Radons to Tigignas, and then by chair lift to Savognin.
Tigignas - Parsonz - Salouf - Riom - Savognin (1 3/4 hours)
Take the chair lift to Tigignas. The walk goes from Tigignas to Rodas – Talvangas – Parsonz and on to Salouf, then back to Parsonz, turning right after Riom past the castle, left to Cunter and straight on to Savognin.
Tigignas - Parnoz - Savognin (1 3/4 hours)
Take the chair lift to Tigignas. The walk leads from Tigignas via Parnoz to Savognin (also a sledge run).
Radons - Tigia - Tigignas (1 1/2 hours)
Take the chair lift to Tigignas and go on with the Snowliner piste bus to Radons. The walk is from Radons to Tigignas (please take care: this trail is also used by skiers, sledgers and by the Snowliner.) Return on the four-seater chair lift to Savognin.
Radons - Bargias Rundgang (1 1/2 hours)
Take the chair lift to Tigignas and then the Snowliner on to Radons. The walk goes to Bargias, via Motign, and back.
Winter hiking trails from Bivio
Bivio - Barscheinz - Bivio (2 hours)
A beautiful walk to the Bivio sun terrace.
Bivio - Stalvedro - Bivio (2 hours)
Easy mountain walking through deeply snow-covered high alpine woodland.
Bivio - Alac - Tgavretga - Bivio (3 1/2 hours)
A ramble through the winter landscape of Bivio.
