Welcome to the Albula Valley
About a dozen mostly small communities, none of which has more than 500 (usually under 200) inhabitants. The valley is between 1'000 and 1'800 meter above sea level and ends in Bergün / Preda, at the foot of the Albula Pass. This mountain pass was already at the time of the Romans an important passage to the south.
Nature & culture
In the valley you find a unique flora and fauna and a healthy environment. The people are very proud of their culture and traditional values, some of which are still lived today. It is up to the guests to discover these on their own.
Energ city lable
The Albula Valley was chosen to the second Energy City in the canton of Grisons and also earned the label energy city-region in 2002. Thus, it was the first region in Switzerland, which was given such a label. Communities get this label, when they implement a strong energy policy. It is a track record of consistent and results oriented energy policy. It recognizes the recent energy services and requires municipalities to make the commitment to action. The Albula thus supports the idea of the program "Swiss Energy", which relies on voluntary measures to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
